Tourism Ireland Unveils Video That Highlights The Island Of Ireland As The 'Home Of Halloween'

Tourism Ireland has unveiled a new video that highlights the island of Ireland as the "home of Halloween".

Titled "Ireland: Home of Halloween", the video tells the story of how Halloween began as the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain to mark the start of winter, and features the origins of some well-known Halloween traditions, including dressing up, jack-o'-lanterns and baking barmbrack.

The aim of the video is to keep the island of Ireland "front-of-mind" for prospective visitors until the time is right for them to visit again.

Tourism Ireland Director Of Markets Statement

Tourism Ireland director of markets Siobhan McManamy stated, "Our new online film, highlighting the authentic connection between Ireland and Halloween, will be seen by around four million people around the world. Tourism Ireland wants to ensure that the island of Ireland is right at the top of international travellers' 'wish-lists' when the time is right for them to travel here again. Once this crisis is past and Ireland is open again to international visitors, we in Tourism Ireland will be ready to roll out an extensive recovery kick-start programme and to play our part in delivering a sustainable recovery for the long-term future of our industry."
