Tourism Ireland Welcomes Ireland Being Showcased By Popular Italian Documentary Series

Tourism Ireland has welcomed Ireland being showcased by a popular Italian documentary series called Freedom: Oltre il Confine, which translates as "Freedom: Beyond the Border".

The Emerald Isle was the focus of a special Ireland episode of the show that aired on Italian TV channel Italia 1 on October 16.

Filming for the episode, which showcased Trinity College in Dublin and the Leprechaun and Fairy Cavern in Carlingford, Co. Louth, took place when the show's presenter, Roberto Giacobbo, visited Ireland last year, and was supported by both Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The episode that aired on October 16 was the first of four episodes of the show that will highlight Ireland's heritage and culture.

"A Fun Way Of Shining A Spotlight On Ireland"

Tourism Ireland's manager for Italy, Ornella Gamacchio, stated, "Tourism Ireland was delighted that Freedom: Oltre il Confine chose to film in Ireland last year. [The October 16] episode, which was seen by around one million Italians, was a fun way of shining a spotlight on Ireland, reminding viewers of our many wonderful experiences and attractions. It will help ensure that Ireland stays front-of-mind with prospective Italian travellers, until such time as they can visit again."
