Appeal Lodged Against Planned Work For Co. Galway Hotel

Despite receiving planning permission to add more bedrooms to the ground floor of the Glen Oaks Hotel in Galway, an appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála against the decision.

The hotel, which is located on the west side of the city, had applied for permission to change its ground-floor bar and restaurant into an additional 13 en-suite bedrooms, as well as converting unused attic space into an extra 6 bedrooms reports

However, the appeal lodged with An Bord Pleanála said the planned work is more in align with that of a hostel and not a hotel, as well as arguing that the existing car parking spaces available were below the minimum requirements.

City council planners responded to the appeal saying that these concerns were not brought up during the original application. An Bord Pleanála will make a ruling on the planned development in March.
