Ashford Castle Crowned Best Five-Star Hotel At Hospitality Awards

Ashford Castle in County Mayo has won further accolades after being awarded the AA 5 Red Star Rating at the 2016 AA Hospitality Awards and was also named Ireland's Best Five Star Hotel at the Keeling's Farm Fresh Gold Medal Awards.

The hotel was the only Republic of Ireland business to win at this year's awards, with UK winners such as the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in Bath and London's Rosewood Hotel. The Keeling's Awards, which are in its 28th year, is one of Ireland's leading independent awards programme for the Irish hotel industry.

Discussing the awards, Niall Rochford, general manager of Ashford Castle commented: "2016 has been a tremendous year for Ashford Castle. Since reopening our doors in 2015 following the 2-year restoration, we have strived to achieve an exceptionally high standard of luxury hospitality both on a national and international level. On behalf of the team at Ashford Castle, we are incredibly proud to have been awarded these two top industry accolades in the same week. We look forward to an even more successful 2017!"

The 800-year-old and 350-acre Ashford Castle has 85-bedrooms, an equestrian centre, Ireland's only Orvis-endorsed fishing school, an exclusive nine-hole golf course, newly surfaced tennis courts and Ireland's first school of falconry. It also has several dining rooms, a bar, cinema, billiard room, cigar terrace, wine cellar and was recently crowned 'Ireland's Best Hotel Spa' at the 2016 World Spa Awards.
