Castle Leslie Estate Introduces Compostable Coffee Cups

Ireland’s Blue Book has announced that Co. Monaghan's Castle Leslie Estate has introduced compostable coffee cups, which have been designed by local primary school children.

The initiative is part of Castle Leslie's ongoing search for environmentally friendly options and the new compostable cups will cut back on the 7,500-10,000 non-compostable cups used each year at the estate.

Local Community

As a supporter of the local community, Castle Leslie sought out the local primary school to design the artwork for the compostable cups in a bid to both create a quirky design for the cups and adds to the environmental education of students at the school.

In addition to the compostable cups, Castle Leslie has also just launched a bio-degradable straw initiative which involves the introduction of straws that are made from what is essentially ground seashells.
