Dalata Spotlights Benefits Of Career In Hospitality Sector

Irish hotel group Dalata used its general-manager conference in Belfast to spotlight the benefits and career opportunities of working with such a large company in the hospitality industry.

Dalata Hotel Group Plc, which owns the Maldron and Clayton hotel chains, hosted the event at the Clayton Hotel Belfast, with general managers travelling from across 48 hotels in Ireland, the UK, and Continental Europe.

With over 80 delegates, the conference provided an opportunity to showcase the career development opportunities that exist within the company and its employer approach, including the Dalata Academy, which provides training and development to all employees at all levels.

Statement By Dalata Hotel Group’s Chief Operating Officer

Dalata Hotel Group’s chief operating officer, Des McCann, stated, “With our culture of developing staff and promoting from within, the majority of our general managers have already had extensive careers with the company, but it has been great to see so many take the step into management and attend this conference for the first time.

“Across Dalata Hotel Group in 2021, there were 393 internal promotions and 74% of management vacancies were filled internally, which shows the strength of our talent.

“We have enjoyed a vibrant and busy start to 2022, and in our new hotel openings – in cities such as Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Dublin – over 66% of the management roles were filled internally.”

Statement By Dalata Hotel Group’s Chief People Officer

Dalata Hotel Group’s chief people officer, Dawn Wynne, stated, “We take great pride in developing our people.

“As the managers at the Belfast conference know, learning doesn’t stop in Dalata. Our Pinnacle programme focuses on the continuous development of our general managers and is in partnership with the Irish Management Institute.”

Dalata is currently recruiting for deputy general manager and future general manager positions. More information can be found at

Sale Of Clayton Crown Hotel, London

The aforementioned followed news that, according to a statement published on, Dalata has signed contracts for the sale of the Clayton Crown Hotel, in London, and the underlying business to a company controlled by AG Hotels Group for a cash consideration of approximately £21 million, with the transfer of the business scheduled to complete by late June of this year.

Statement By Dalata’s CEO

The statement published on included one from Dalata’s CEO, Dermot Crowley, wherein he said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Clayton Crown Hotel for the significant contribution they have made since the hotel was acquired as part of the Moran Bewley acquisition in 2015.

“This transaction represents excellent value and will assist us in our continued focus on securing central opportunities in attractive cities of the UK and Continental Europe. London continues to be a priority for Dalata, and we look forward to opening our new hotel in Shoreditch in the second half of 2023.

“Our immediate focus now will be to communicate with our employees and assist them with the transition. We will be retaining the hotel management within the company. All other employees will have the opportunity to apply for vacant positions within Dalata, or they can choose to remain in their current roles in the hotel.”
