Hilton Dublin Gets Green Light For Seven-Storey Extension

The Hilton Dublin hotel on Charlemont Place has been granted planning permission for a seven-storey, 97-bedroom extension to the property by An Bord Pleanála.

Upon completion the hotel, which is owned by US billionaire John Malone, will have a total of 305 bedrooms. Dublin City Council had approved the work earlier this year, however an appeal was lodged by a third party against the decision, reports The Irish Examiner.

An Bord Pleanála concluded "that the appeal site in its current format constitutes an underdeveloped zoned and serviced site in a central and very accessible location that can be the subject of additional development without impacting adversely on the visual or other amenities of the area" and that the planned work would not "harm the setting of the Grand Canal Conservation Area".
