Killarney's Europe Hotel Switches To 100% Green Renewable Energy

The Europe Hotel & Resort of Killarney, Co. Kerry, has announced that it has switched to 100% green renewable energy following a partnership with Electric Ireland.

The hotel, which is part of the Killarney Hotels Sustainability Group, also plans to reduce its overall carbon emissions by 25% this year.

The Killarney Hotels Sustainability Group consists of 22 hotels that have committed to reducing the environmental impact of their businesses.

"Of Vital Importance"

The Irish Examiner quotes Killarney Hotels Ltd managing director Michael Brennan as saying, "We have always challenged ourselves to lead by example and operate with pride. Now more than ever, it is of vital importance for not only the hospitality industry but also society as a whole to take significant action and account for our responsibility for the environment."

Additionally, The Europe Hotel gets its beef and lamb from a local farm to reduce the hotel's "food miles."
