Major New Hotel Development Gets Green Light In Finn Valley

Planning permission has been granted by Donegal County Council for the building of a new hotel at a well-known fishing lodge in Finn Valley.

The Donegal Democrat reports that the €48m development includes the restoration and extension of  the main Cloghan lodge, which is a protected structure, to provide a 34 bedroom hotel with conference facilities.

The plans for the new hotel, which received no objections, also include conversion of original estate out buildings for use as a pub/restaurant, a new five-bed fisherman's lodge providing budget accommodation for sports visitors; five courtyard dwellings and the development of 30 forest lodges located within a woodland.

The Donegal Democrat adds that, "Historic features are also to be restored at the site, and forest walkways, viewpoints, amenity areas and parking facilities are to be created".

It's expected the development will take place in phases over a number of years and when completed the hotel is expect be either four or five star.
