Revamp Of Dublin's Mercantile Hotel Put On Hold Due To Objection

A €20 million refurbishment of Dublin's Mercantile Hotel has been put on hold following an objection by a resident of an adjoining building.

Appeal

Dublin City Council recently greenlit plans to combine the Mercantile Hotel with the adjoining Dame House and construct a six-storey extension to the rear of both properties. However, solicitor John Synnott, whose practice is based in Dame House where he has a long-term lease, has lodged an appeal against the council's decision with An Bord Pleanála, as reported by The Irish Independent.

The proposed six-storey extension and combination of the two properties would increase the Mercantile Hotel's room count from 28 to 109.
