Richard Picard-Edwards Appointed Ballyfin Demense Executive Chef

The general manager of Ballyfin Demesne, Peter White, has announced the appointment of Richard Picard-Edwards as the hotel's new executive chef.

Picard-Edwards is a Michelin-starred chef who has worked in properties in the UK, most recently at the Mandarin Oriental Bittescombe Lodge and Deer Park in Somerset.

Prior to this, Picard-Edwards was executive head chef at Lartington Hall, Barnard Castle, Durham, and before this at Lords of the Manor, Upper Slaughter in The Cotswolds, where he received his first Michelin star in 2014, as well as three AA rosettes. He also worked as head chef at Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa, another Michelin-starred hotel restaurant. Picard-Edwards began his career at the Royal Garden Hotel, in Kensington, London.

Commenting on the appointment, White said, "We are delighted to welcome Richard to Ballyfin. He is a brilliant professional who shares all our values, and he has exceptional experience working with Michelin-starred properties in the UK."

Picard-Edwards said, "My family and I are thrilled with this opportunity to move to Ireland and experience all that Ballyfin Demesne and the area has to offer. I am especially excited by the impressive 19th century eight acres walled garden that is any chef's dream to draw from. I also look forward to getting to know more about the fabulous produce that Ireland is renowned for around the world."
