Trump Resigns As Director Of Irish Companies That Operate Doonbeg Hotel

Donald Trump has resigned as director of two Irish companies that own and operate Clare's five-star Trump International Hotel & Golf Links in Doonbeg.

According to documents filed with the Companies Registration Office, Trump stepped down from his role as director of TIGL Ireland Enterprises Ltd and TIGL Ireland Management Ltd on January 19, the day before his inauguration reports RTÉ.

The move comes following a recent joint interview with The Times and German newspaper Bild where he described the planned development at Doonbeg as "a very unpleasant experience" and said "now I couldn't care less about it".

Previously, Trump indicated that he would resign his directorships to avoid any potential conflicts of interest as US President, with the BBC reporting that he has resigned from the board of a number of UK businesses, including those related to his Scottish golf courses. Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr will remain on as directors of the two Irish companies.
