Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election has been termed "a great day for Clare and a great day for Ireland, according to the managing director at Trump International Hotel & Golf Links in Doonbeg.
Joe Russell, who has been manager at the five-star hotel for 13 years, commented that the victory is "huge for Clare and, I think, particularly for Shannon Airport in terms of the tourism and business opportunities it offers", reports The Irish Independent.
Russell, who had the opportunity to play golf with Trump when he visited the hotel last year, said that an "incredible shot" on the 18th hole was a sign of future good fortune for Trump's presidential campaign.
The Trump family say there are exciting plans for the future of the 188-bedroom hotel, with a proposal to develop a ballroom and a conference centre. "I think it is important to say that everything Mr Trump says he is going to do he delivers on," said Russell.
