Wedding Bookings Uncertainty As 4-Star Sligo Hotel Closes

One of the most popular wedding venues in the north-west of the country has closed with immediate effect, placing numerous wedding bookings in jeopardy.

Cromleach Lodge, located outside Castlebaldwin in Sligo, yesterday shut its doors after the Directors of the company leasing the hotel, Funshinagh Ltd, confirmed that following a meeting with Revenue officials they were left with no option but to cease trading.

According to local radio station Ocean FM, Funshinagh Ltd has leased Cromleach Lodge since June 2014, while in a statement the directors, Nicolas and Deirdre Ryan, said that they tried to find a solution that would allow the hotel to continue, even if only to facilitate weddings that have already been booked.

The statement added an apology to the staff, suppliers and the couples who have booked weddings at the venue.

A women who had reportedly booked her wedding at the hotel post on Facebook yesterday: "In absolutely disbelief, shock and so angry, to discover by email at 11am today, that Cromleach Lodge Country House, are now closed".
