Charlemont Bar & Bistro Opens in Dublin

Dublin has welcomed another addition to its expanding bar and restaurant scene with the Charlemont Bar & Bistro.

Following an almost €1m investment the new establishment, which launched last week, brings together two settings the owners describe as common themes of "design, style and vibe".  Charlemont Bar & Bistro is located overlooking the Grand canal on Charlemont Place.

It also features a canal-facing outdoor terrace, which manager Paul Flavin expects will be well-used due to what he describes as "the paucity of good outdoor dining spaces" in the capital and in spite of Ireland's inclement climate.

Executive chef, Alan Brady, has placed an emphasis on "great quality ingredients done simply and done well and the provenance of the ingredients is paramount to his menu design".

Ronan Holohan, managing director of Millimetre, the company behind the new-look Charlemont, explains the design: "In the bar, we wanted to change the overall function and flow of the space so changed the entire look and feel of the former Stil bar.  The bar has been pushed back and extended resulting in a much more dramatic effect on the room. A good mixture of low lounge and high bar-style seating means the bar can transcend from morning through to very late night."
