An Bord Pleanála Allows Dublin's Osteria Lucia Venue To Retain Its Outdoor Seating

An Bord Pleanála has permitted Michelin star chef Ross Lewis to retain the outdoor seating area at his Osteria Lucio restaurant in Dublin for two years following Dublin City Council's refusal of an application to retain the area last year.

Inspector's Recommendation

After Lewis appealed the council's decision to An Bord Pleanála, An Bord Pleanála's inspector recommended that the board refuse the appeal, stating that the outdoor seating area would have a disproportionate and detrimental impact on the visual amenities of the area and that the reduction in the width of the footpath would cause an obstruction.

An Bord Pleanála's Decision

However, An Bord Pleanála decided that the seating area will not significantly harm the area's visual amenity and that it is not a danger to pedestrians or traffic. The board stated that the seating area will provide street animation and enhance the vibrancy of the street, as reported by The Irish Times.
