McDonald's has applied for planning permission to build a new drive-through restaurant on a site next to Tesco Extra in the south Belfast suburb of Newtownbreda.

As reported by The Irish News, McDonald's hopes to build the proposed drive-through restaurant on an area in Tesco's car park.

The fast food chain said that a review of the supermarket's parking facilities found several areas considered to be excess to Tesco's requirements.

Access to the proposed drive-through restaurant would be via the same access roads that currently provide access to Tesco.

Development Investment And Employment Opportunities

Construction Information Services Ireland estimates that the development of the proposed restaurant would involve an investment of approximately £1 million.

If approved, the proposed restaurant is expected to generate approximately 65 full- and part-time employment opportunities.
