Northern Irish Couple Sells Their KFC Franchise

Northern Irish couple Michael and Lesley Herbert have sold their KFC business to Blackburn-based EG Group for an undisclosed sum.

The couple have built up the UK's largest KFC franchise over the past four decades. Their franchise's portfolio is comprised of 146 outlets.

The deal also includes one Pizza Hut outlet, a a development pipeline and several non-trading sites.

"A Great Strategic Addition"

Bbc.com quotes EG Group founder Zuber Issa as saying, "The Herbert Group portfolio is a great strategic addition and complements our expanding operations in the UK and now allows us entry into the Irish market."

Meanwhile, KFC UK and Ireland general manager Paula MacKenzie commented, "I'd like to personally thank all of the Herbert Group team for their partnership and contribution to our brand over the last 39 years."
