Waterford's La Bohème Restaurant & Wine Bar Named Just Ask Restaurant Of The Month

Waterford's La Bohème Restaurant & Wine Bar has been awarded the Just Ask Restaurant of the Month for March by Bord Bia.

The Just Ask campaign, which was established in 2009, encourages diners to look for information on menus about where the food on their plate comes from with the aim of promoting engagement and transparency in the farm-to-fork process.

Discussing the award, chef proprietor Eric Théze said: "The words 'fresh', 'free range', 'organic' and 'delivered daily' are like music to our ears and most definitely our motto when sourcing food products to use on our menus. We dedicate an entire section on our website to providing further information on our valued suppliers. Our fresh Irish beef, pork and Comeragh mountain lamb is supplied by Dawn Meats, while free range Irish chicken is supplied by La Rousse Foods. Jason Conway of Elda Wild Irish Venison supplies us with wild game in season and our seafood and shellfish is landed in Dunmore East and Kilmore Quay and supplied to us by Billy Burke Fishmongers and Maurice O’Rourke."

"Our fresh fruit and vegetables are supplied to us from a number of sources: Tom Cleary of Campile, Grantstown Nurseries of Ballygunner and Halley Fruits of Newrath. We also receive a weekly delivery of exotic mushrooms grown in Ballyhogue, Co Wexford from Nick and Catherine George of Fancy Fungi. Seagull Bakery in Tramore supply us with wholemeal sourdough bread and we also get salads, vegetables, herbs and edible flours from the Ballybeg Horticultural Initiative," he added.
