Dublin Named World's Eighth Best City For Beer

Dublin has been named the eighth best city in the world for beer by UK-based price comparison website money.co.uk.

An article published on money.co.uk stated, "With world-class breweries, bars, and beer festivals to enjoy around the globe, and international travel beginning to open up, we've revealed the best cities around the world for beer."

Factors Considered

Money.co.uk ranked compiled a list of what it considers to be the 40 best cities in the world for beer, based on the number of breweries a city has per 10,000 people, the number of bars, pubs and clubs a city has per 10,000 people and a city's average price per pint.

Dublin made the number eight spot on the top 40 list for having, according to money.co.uk, 30 breweries in total, 0.54 breweries per 10,000 people, 314 bars, pubs and clubs listed on Tripadvisor, 5.66 bars, pubs and clubs per 10,000 people, an average price per pint of €5.49, and an overall score of 4.36 out of 10.

Top 10

The Irish capital is ranked behind Asheville in the US, Prague in the Czech Republic, Kraków in Poland, Fort Collins in the US, Cincinnati in the US, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Austin in the US, which occupy the number one to seven spots, respectively, on money.co.uk's list of the 40 best cities in the world for beer.

The top 10 is completed by Wroclaw in Poland and Grand Rapids in the US, which occupy the list's number nine and 10 spots, respectively.

Dublin Has Fifth Highest Average Pint Price

However, Dublin did not make money.co.uk's list of the 10 cheapest destinations for pints, having the fifth highest average pint price out of the 40 cities on the list of the best cities in the world for beer.

Only San Francisco in the US, with an average price per pint of €6.70, Melbourne in Australia, with an average price per pint of €6.09, Boston in the US, with an average price per pint of €5.86, and London in the UK with an average price per pint of €5.85, are listed as having higher average pint prices than Dublin.

Cheapest Average Pints Prices

The city with the cheapest average pint price, according to money.co.uk, is Buenos Aires, with an average price per pint of €1.37.

The city with cheapest average pint price in Europe, according to money.co.uk, is Prague, with an average price per pint of €1.57, which is also the second cheapest average pint price on money.co.uk's list of the 40 best cities in the world for beer, after that of Buenos Aires.
