Eight of Aramark Ireland’s finest chefs will compete to be crowned Aramark’s Chef of the Year in Ireland.

Sean Hunter, Lucian Chelariu, Pranas Jablonskis, Philip Morrissey, David Joyce, Cian Irvine, Craig Taylor and Michael Hannafin have all been shortlisted to compete at the National Chef’s Cup on February 6 2018 in CityWest, Dublin. The winning chef will then go on to represent Ireland at the European Chef’s Cup which will be held in April. Chefs from across Europe will compete for top honours in Barcelona.

The finalists will have just 90 minutes to prepare, cook and present two main course dishes using sustainable fresh fish as a key ingredient, and two deserts with chocolate as a key ingredient.

The judging panel will include Irish Michelin-star-winning head chef and co-owner of Chapter One, Ross Lewis; Brendan O’Neill, Executive Director Panel of Chefs Ireland and Aramark’s UK Culinary Director, Paul Bloxham. The judging panel will be chaired by Derek Reilly Aramark Ireland’s Culinary Director.

Speaking ahead of the final Shane Flynn, Managing Director of Food Services Ireland, said, “The exceptionally high standard of entries this year will make the competition incredibly challenging. Each year the standard of food these talented chefs produce simply gets better and better. I congratulate each of them for getting this far in what is a very tough competition.”
