According to new CSO figures, the total overseas trips to Ireland for the period July to September 2013 were up by 8% on the corresponding period in last year. The figures also increased by 6% from the period January to September.

Visitors from the United States grew by 14% in July to September and are up by 15% for the year to September.

Tourists from the U.K. rose by 9% from July to September and are up 3% for the first nine months of 2013.

New Zealander and Australian visitors increased by 19% during January to September

Tourists from other far-flung areas grew by 24% during July to September and are up by 14% for the year to September.

'Fáilte Ireland have been hearing of growth across all sectors – accommodation, attractions, and restaurants -as well as receiving direct feedback that overseas markets are now really delivering for tourism businesses - in particular North America.  The tourism troika of ‘The Gathering’, recent Government initiatives and improving overseas markets have helped to ensure that tourism has begun to reap the benefits of increased visitors, employment and revenue.' says Shaun Quinn, CEO of Fáilte Ireland.
