Which? Magazine Names World's Best Airlines; Draws Criticism From Ryanair

Which? magazine has named the best short-haul and long-haul airlines after surveying 7,500 of its members, with Aer Lingus and Ryanair ranked number 10 and 21 in the short-haul category respectively. The survey took into factors such as punctuality; boarding; seat comfort; value for money; food and drink; customer service; and in-flight entertainment.

Turkish Airlines was named the overall winner of the short-haul category with a customer score of 80 per cent, winning five stars out of five for food and drink and customer service, while Singapore Airlines topped the long-haul list with a score of 91 per cent, attaining five stars in boarding and seat comfort.

Ryanair won two out of five stars for boarding, one star for seat comfort and three stars for value for money in the survey while Aer Lingus won four stars for boarding and three stars for seat comfort and value for money.

Speaking to The Irish Independent, a spokesperson for Ryanair said: "This survey of just 7,500 Which? members is unrepresentative and worthless. Ryanair is the world’s largest international airline (119 million customers) and is also the world’s fastest growing (up 13 million customers in 2016). Real consumers cannot get enough of Ryanair’s low fares and our Always Getting Better customer service."
