Ashford Castle and Mayo Showcased To 800,000 Australians On TV

Images of Mayo and Ashford Castle were beamed into 800,000 homes down under recently when the county and five-star resort appeared on popular Australian TV show, The Living Room.

The episode saw the so-called "Bondi Vet", Doctor Chris Brown, exploring the scenery, culture and history of Co. Mayo, with a particular emphasis on Ashford Castle. Filming took place in Ireland last autumn with support from Tourism Ireland and Fáilte IrelandAnother two episodes due to air in September and October will focus on Lisdoonvarna matchmaker Willie Daly and Northern Ireland's Game of Thrones connections, respectively.

Tourism Ireland’s manager for Australia and New Zealand Sofia Hansson commented that “Chris Brown has a loyal following in Australia and his focus on Ireland’s scenery, culture and history will certainly appeal to our important ‘culturally curious’ audience, inspiring them to come and explore the landscapes and locations featured in The Living Room for themselves.”
