The four-star Carton House hotel and golf resort in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, has been bought by Irish American businessman John Mullen for a reported €57 million.
The resort, which includes a 165-bedroom hotel and two championship golf courses, was sold on behalf of the Mallaghan and Kelly families.

Mayo and this will be a personal investment and his first in Ireland, adding that he is he founder and chairman of the Philadelphia-based Apple Leisure Group, which includes an international travel business and a resorts division.
The Mallaghan family, who had a 40-year association with the property, and the Carton Development Partnership, confirmed in July they had "reached consensual agreement with Nama to put Carton House Resort on the market".
