Miyazaki To Open New Restaurant At Former Fenn's Quay In Cork

One of the country's top sushi chefs, Takashi Miyazaki, has announced plans to open a second restaurant in Cork in March.

Ichigo Ichie will be a sister restaurant to his well-established Miyazaki eatery in the city and will be located at the premises of the former Fenn's Quay restaurant, which closed its doors in July after 20 years in business, reports The Irish Times.

Japanese chef Miyazaki will offer a Japanese tasting menu (kaiseki) of between eight and 12 courses, which is expected to cost in the region of €85, while the restaurant will be a kappou, meaning that the cold dishes will be created by the chef working at a counter in front of patrons, a format employed by London's three-Michelin star, nine-seater restaurant, The Araki.

Miyazaki said that the format will allow him to be able to explain the dishes to customers and have interaction with them part of the their dining experience.

The chef added that there will be five seats at the counter and a further 22 at dining tables, while hot dishes will be cooked in a separate kitchen.
