Hotel Room Prices in Dublin On The Rise

The price of a hotel room in Dublin this month rose 11% compared to January, according to the trivago Hotel Price Index.

The average hotel room in the capital costs €124 in February, compared to €112 in January. Prices in the capital are up 15% year-on-year, compared to €108 in February 2015. Meanwhile, prices in Dublin are up 31% on the Irish monthly average of €95.

The biggest month-on-month increases in Ireland can be found in Dingle (€102, up 21%), Dublin (€124, up 11%) and Waterford (€87, up 7%).

Dublin room prices will be the most expensive on the 19 March, when Ireland take on Scotland in the Six Nations Championship. Prices are as high as €255 for the night, which is an increase of 68% on the average room price for the duration of the tournament.

Based on the 50 most popular European cities on trivago, hotel prices have risen by an average of 2% this month in comparison to January. However, a number of top city destinations have reported significant month-on-month decreases this month compared to January.

The biggest decreases in comparison to January are found in Florence (-26%), Prague (-13%), Budapest (-10%) and Ljubljana (-10%).

David Lintott, UK and Ireland Public Relations, said: "There are bargains to be found all over Europe this month, however, with a number of top city destinations reporting large monthly price decreases compared to January, including Paris, Florence and Vienna".
