MHL Agrees To Purchase Powerscourt Hotel

The MHL Hotel Collection has agreed to acquire Co. Wicklow's five-star Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa from Sugarloaf Investments Limited for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is subject to approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

Owned by a partnership between John Malone, John Lally and Paul Higgins, the MHL Collection is currently comprised of eleven four- and five-star hotels that are located in Dublin, Galway and Limerick.

"Very Pleased"

Commenting on the news, Higgins said, "We are very pleased to add Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa to the MHL collection, where it joins a five-star line up that includes the InterContinental, the Westin and Glenlo Abbey, as well as eight superb four-star hotels, all of which have undergone or are undergoing significant investment.
This latest acquisition supports our continuing aim of acquiring and managing a collection of high quality hotels, both branded and non-branded, and investing heavily to enhance customer experience and future performance."
