Peer Group Plans €27m Hotel Development For Waterford

It has been announced that Irish property investor and Mondello Park race track owner Martin Birrane's Peer Group plans to construct a €27 million hotel, as well as up to 80 holiday homes and townhouses, at Clonea Strand, close to Dungarvan in County Waterford.

The aim of the endeavour is to cater to increased tourism in the area due in part to the popularity of the Ancient East tourist route, reports The Sunday Independent.

Planning permission for a new development on the proposed site was originally approved back in 2008 before being renewed in 2013. However, the application to construct a resort at the location will reportedly expire in 2018, meaning that new planning permission will be required.

While the Peer Group acknowledges that it's not feasible to finish the development by the end of next year, the company asserts that it "has a team of professionals working with local planners and community leaders to identify the most suitable leisure, tourism and lifestyle opportunities for Clonea, Dungarvan and the community in the surrounding area."
