McDonald’s October Sales Top Estimates

McDonald’s Corp., the world’s largest restaurant chain, posted October same-store sales that topped analysts’ estimates as US declines slowed.

Global sales at stores open at least 13 months fell 0.5 per cent, the Illinois-based company said today in a statement. Analysts had estimated a 2.2 per cent drop, according to Consensus Metrix. US same-store sales fell 1 per cent, an improvement from a 4.1 per cent decrease in September.

McDonald’s, which has more than 14,200 US locations, has been trying to attract diners with value deals and free coffee. The chain is selling $2 jalapeno burgers and featuring more locally relevant fare across the US, such as chorizo burritos in Chicago. It’s also bringing back the McRib sandwich this month in about 75 per cent of stores.
