New Shannon Airport Restaurant Completes Final Phase Of €2.1m Investment

A new restaurant has opened at Shannon Airport, completing the final phase of a €2.1 million investment in the airport's food and beverage facilities.

The newly-opened JJ Ruddle’s restaurant, which is located in the airport's arrivals hall,  features with three menu options – breakfast, lunch and dinner – and is open from 5am to 11pm daily.

Namesake And Design

The restaurant is named after Shannon Airport architect JJ Ruddle, who also designed many other well-known Co. Clare buildings, including the Lahinch Golf Course clubhouse, which will host next year’s Irish Open.

JJ Ruddle’s restaurant was developed by restaurant and café company Zest, which is a subsidiary of Irish inflight catering company EFG Inflight Ltd and co-owned by Ruddle’s daughter Fiona and Ean Malone. Among the items decorating the restaurant are architectural sketches, including site drawings for Shannon Airport and Lahinch Golf Course, which were found in Ruddle's old attic collection.
