Popular Dublin Indian Eatery To Close

One of the Dublin's best-loved Indian restaurants, Jaipur on George's Street, will close its doors next week.

Jaipur, which was the first of the new wave of modern Indian cooking restaurants to open in the capital, is to close due to the sale of the building in which it's located, reports The Irish Times.

"It has been a great 16 years, with many wonderful memories,” said proprietor Asheesh Dewan, "but as our tenancy had been so uncertain for so long, it nearly feels overdue.

"Thankfully, every restaurant in the Jaipur Group is busy, so the staff can stay with us."

The report reveals that Dewan has Jaipur restaurants in Dalkey, Malahide and Ongar, as well as Ananda in Dundrum Town Centre and Chakra in Greystones, and is now actively seeking new restaurant locations in Dublin city and beyond.
