Dublin Airport Adds 21 New Routes for Summer

Dublin Airport is set for a bumper summer schedule as the airport is adding 21 new routes, comprising 16 short-haul and 5 long-haul routes.

Capacity is set to increase by an extra two million seats, an 11 per cent increase compared to summer 2014. Dublin Airport is expecting its busiest summer since 2008, according to Vincent Harrison, Managing Director.

"Significant increases in seat capacity and frequency on 25 existing routes will give our customers greater flexibility and more options whether they are travelling for business or leisure purposes during this summer season," said Harrison.

The new short-haul routes include destinations such as Reykjavik, Copenahagen, Helsinki and Nantes while the five long-haul destinations are Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Addis Ababa and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The airport celebrates its 75th year this year, and with these new extra routes and a thriving tourism sector, it will look to build considerably on the 21.7 million people it welcomed in 2014.
