AB InBev Developing 'Nespresso'-Style Beer Machine

Brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) has partnered with coffee company Keurig Green Mountain to create a 'Nespresso'-style in-home alcohol drink system.

The joint venture, which will serve beer, spirits, cocktails and mixers, is currently in the research and development stage and will focus on the North American market.

The machine will be built on the Keurig KOLD technology, which was discontinued nine months after its debut due to poor sales, and AB InBev’s brewing and packaging technology, reports The Irish Independent. It's not the first brewery trying to become the 'Nespresso of Beer', Australian brewing giant Coopers released an automated personal beer brewing machine called BrewArt which costs $799 and allows for the brewing of 10 litres of beer.

"We’re thrilled to be moving forward with this joint venture and look forward to working closely with the Keurig Green Mountain team to explore the possibilities of what we can achieve together. We can’t wait to get started," said Nathaniel Davis, CEO of the new venture.

Bob Gamgort, Keurig Green Mountain CEO commented: "We are excited to partner with AB InBev to develop a new system for the adult beverage category. We look forward to combining our capabilities and technologies to deliver innovation for consumers."
