Italian travel TV show Kilimangiaro is filming scenes in Donegal this week.
Tourism Ireland in Milan, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited camerawoman Annapia Chico and cameraman Diego Nicoletti to come explore Donegal for the show, which airs on Italian TV station RAI Tre. Filming locations include the Slieve League Cliffs, Donegal Castle, Mount Errigal, Glenveagh National Park and Castle, Horn Head, Fanad Head Lighthouse and Malin Head. The resulting programme will air towards the end of 2018.
“We are delighted that the Kilimangiaro TV show is filming in Donegal this week. It’s the kind of publicity that money simply could not buy and a superb way to highlight the north-west section of the Wild Atlantic Way to more than 1 million Italians, positioning Ireland as a highly desirable place to visit,” said Niamh Kinsella, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy. “Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the Italian media of the many things to see and do on a holiday around the island of Ireland.”
2017 was the best year on record for tourism from Italy to Ireland, with 363,300 Italian residents coming to the country, up 5.5% on 2016. Tourism Ireland is determined to ensure that success continues and the organisation has an extensive programme of promotions under way in Italy in 2018.
