Aer Lingus Statement

In a statement published on mediacentre.aerlingus.com responding to the above news, Aer Lingus said, "Aer Lingus CEO Lynne Embleton today welcomed the Government's decision to remove the requirement for a pre-departure COVID-19 test for double-vaccinated passengers arriving into Ireland.

"'The Government's removal of this additional expense and barrier is welcome news for our customers, our people, our sector and the wider economy. Restoring confidence in travel is critical to the recovery of the aviation sector and to the connectivity of Ireland. Aer Lingus is striving to return to 90% of normal flying by the peak of the summer. Our January sale is encouraging people to plan their holidays, our market-leading booking flexibility policy is providing confidence and our investment in VeriFly, the digital ready-to-fly app, is giving reassurance. The confirmation that Digital Covid Certificates will be updated from this week for those that have received their booster shots is a further welcome development,' Lynne Embleton said.

"Aer Lingus's January Seat Sale has 2 million seats on sale including up to 20% off European and UK travel as well as flights to North America from just €169 each way as part of a return trip.

"Aer Lingus has extended its market-leading 'Book with Confidence' policy for bookings until 31st of January 2022, to allow customers with upcoming bookings on any fare type to change their travel dates free of charge up to two hours before they travel** and as many times as they wish. The existing policy applies on bookings from 1st February to 30th September 2022 which allows customers to change their booking up to seven days before travel.

"To make travel easier, Aer Lingus has partnered with VeriFLY. By downloading the VeriFLY app and uploading COVID-19 related documentation required for their destination, Aer Lingus customers can ensure that all of their COVID-19 related documentation is verified before travel.

"In addition, Aer Lingus has also introduced a Travel Tool designed to remove uncertainty regarding travel restrictions and entry requirements for all Aer Lingus destinations.
