Aramark Names Irish 'Chef Of The Year'

Head chef of visitor catering at Dublin's Guinness Storehouse Oran Colhoun has been named Aramark’s "Chef of the Year Ireland", beating off competition to claim the title at Irish food service and hospitality show Catex 2019, which took place at the RDS, Dublin, from February 26 to 28.

Having beaten seven other finalists, Colhoun has secured a place in the company’s European finals in London on April 4.

"From Farm To Fork"

The theme for this year’s national competition was "From Farm to Fork". Finalists were required to prepare, cook and present two portions of a main course dish using plant based ingredients as the key ingredient.

Colhoun was awarded the "Chef of the Year" title after he impressed the panel of judges with his dishes of wild Irish mushroom Wellington, pickled vegetables, potato foam, pea purée, mint oil and Madeira jus.
