Consumer Confidence In Travel Increasing, According To Aer Lingus

Consumer confidence in travel for 2022 is increasing, according to newly-released search data from Aer Lingus.

Ski And City Breaks

Aer Lingus revealed the data in a statement published on mediacentre.aerlingus.com, in which the airline said that searches among ski trip seekers for Munich and Geneva have increased 90% and 65%, respectively, while searches among European city break seekers have increased 81% for Venice and 70% for Madrid, and searches among UK trip seekers have increased 72% for Glasgow, 70% for London, 69% for Birmingham and 63% for Edinburgh.

Sun And US Breaks

Alicante, Lanzarote and Faro are the most searched sun destinations, according to the data, and Aer Lingus noted that searches for travel to the US has also increased, with searches increasing for cities such as New York, Boston and Chicago.

Data Gathering Process

Aer Lingus stated that the search data was gathered by analysing web searches and conversion rates on the days before the latest lifting of travel restrictions (December 30 to January 3) and comparing that information to the same information on the days after the latest listing of travel restrictions (January 6 to January 10).

Aer Lingus Director Of Global Sales Statement

The statement revealing the above data on mediacentre.aerlingus.com also included a statement from Aer Lingus director of global sales Bill Byrne, in which he said, "Without doubt, travel is back for 2022. Following the lifting of travel restrictions for double-vaccinated travellers, we have seen a strong uplift in activity on aerlingus.com. Consumer confidence in travel is returning - it seems that most people are ready for a holiday abroad."
