Dublin Airport Passenger Numbers Increased Year On Year In June

The number of people that passed through Dublin Airport increased in June, compared to the same month last year.

According to a statement published on, June was Dublin Airport's busiest month of 2023 to date, with passengers numbers increasing 14% year on year to a little more than 3.2 million passengers, which was in line with pre-COVID-19 pandemic June 2019 levels.

Approximately 1.95 million passengers (61%) passed through Terminal 1 last month, while 1.25 million passed through Terminal 2.

The passenger number figure for June includes 200,000 passengers who transited and transferred through Dublin Airport.

The total number of passengers that passed through Dublin Airport during the first six months of 2023 was on par with pre-pandemic 2019 levels, at a little more than 15.5 million.

78% of the passengers that departed Dublin Airport last month passed through the airport's security screening in under 10 minutes and 98% passed through in under 20 minutes June of last year, despite the rise in passenger numbers.

Those departing Dublin Airport during the summer season are advised to arrive two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul flight.

Statement By DAA CEO

The statement published on quoted Dublin Airport operator DAA CEO Kenny Jacobs as saying, "The busy summer period is well underway, with over 100,000 passengers travelling through Dublin Airport every single day at the moment. Our busiest day of the year so far was Friday, June 30. Families wasted little time in getting their bags packed and their feet on the beaches of Europe and beyond, with almost 116,000 passengers passing through the airport that same day as schools all over the country broke for their summer holidays. Passengers will be hoping their cocktails will be as smooth as their journey through Dublin Airport, with 98% of passengers passing through security screening in under 20 minutes in June, which is well above our stated target of 90%."
