Dublin Airport Sees Major Growth While Aer Lingus Makes 'Most Loved' List

A report from the Airports Council International Europe has listed Dublin Airport as the fastest growing major airport during the first half of 2016. The airline has seen its passenger numbers increase by 13.4 per cent to 13 million between January and June, and is on track to break last years record performance of 25 million passengers reports RTÉ.

Dublin Airport has grown faster than the likes of Barcelona's El Prat Airport which saw an increase of 12.7 per cent and Copenhagen Aiport with 10.9 per cent, whilst the average European airport growth was only 4.9 per cent.

Discussing the growth, Dublin Airport managing director Vincent Harrison said it is having “a significant impact on the Irish economy, bringing increased trade and investment and also driving higher visitor numbers, which is in turn boosting the Irish tourist industry.”

Elsewhere, Skytrax, a global Air Travel guide, has released its list of 'most loved' airlines in Europe which has seen its customers rank Aer Lingus in third place. The rating is based on factors such as how comfortable an airlines seats are, its onboard services, inflight entertainment and value for money. Top of the list was Greek's Aegean Airlines, while Ryanair was described as having “improved considerably in the last year.”
