Co. Monaghan's Patrick Kavanagh Centre has undergone a €1 million revamp that has transformed it into a mini-museum, the features of which include memory boxes containing personal effects, a new event space and touch screens.
The revamped centre, which is located in Inniskeen, where poet Patrick Kavanagh was born, will open to visitors on July 20.
Exhibitions at the centre celebrate the different stages of Kavanagh's life.
"A Fitting Tribute"
The Irish Independent quotes the centre's manager, Darren McCreesh, as saying, "The state-of-the-art visitor experience is a fitting tribute to the poet's life and work."
Access to the centre will initially be limited to groups of a maximum of five people at any one time, and advance booking is required.
