Belfry Owner Offers to Buy Gleaneagles for £150M

The owner of The Belfry has made a £150 million offer to buy Gleneagles, the luxury hotel and home to the world-famous golf course in Perthshire, Scotland.

The 850-acre site, which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2014, has two formal bids on the table from KSL Capital Partners and another unnamed player, according to Sky News.

KSL, a US-based firm which owns the Belfry and the Malmaison Group, has offered the sum to owners Diageo, the global drinks giant. Diageo has previously made attempts to sell the site, included an abandoned sale in 1998.

The resort had a successful year on the back of Ryder Cup hosting, which saw 120,000 people visiting the course during the event. It received a lot of interest from investors after the tournament.
