The Hanly Castle Hotel Group has announced the acquisition of Kinnitty Castle, with plans to take possession of the historic property in the coming weeks.
Plans are already under way for a significant renovation, focusing on refurbishing all state rooms and bedrooms. In a commitment to preserving the castle’s heritage while enhancing its offerings, the group will retain the existing management and dedicated team members.
The group is also preparing to submit a planning application to Offaly County Council later this year. The proposal includes expanding the number of rooms and introducing additional leisure facilities.
‘We look forward to unveiling these exciting developments and welcoming visitors to experience the next chapter in Kinnitty Castle’s storied history,’ the group noted in a statement.
Kinnitty Castle is a thirteenth-century castle seated on 650 acres of parkland, inclusive of 60 acres of rolling lawns, with 37 guest bedrooms. It contains many of its original features and heritage colours, as well as its regal atmosphere, dating back to 1209.
The property features the Library Bar, the Sli Dala restaurant, and the Drawing Room.
