Shelbourne Operator Posts €10m Revenue Ahead Of €50m Refurbishment

The Irish Times has reported that Archer SB Hotel Ltd, the new operator of the Shelbourne Hotel, on Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green, generated revenues of €10.12 million in its first two months of running the hotel last year.

According to the report, revenue from rooms came to €4.9 million, while the hotel made €5.2 million in other revenue.

The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection began an extensive year-long refurbishment of its guest room offering in late October 2025.

The project represents an investment in excess of €50 million and will see 226 guest rooms – specifically the Queen, Deluxe, and Heritage Premium categories – undergo a ‘considered and detailed refresh’.

Commissioned by Archer Hotel Capital B.V. (Archer), the transformation will be led by internationally renowned interior designer Bryan O’Sullivan and his eponymous studio.

The forthcoming renovation will reflect a ‘classic, traditional luxury aesthetic, with elegant detailing’ that evokes the era of the hotel’s original construction, complemented by ‘eclectic, playful elements that speak to the vibrant character’ of modern Dublin.

While much of the furniture and lighting will be newly designed by Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, existing pieces will be retained, to ensure continuity and reverence for the past.

The design will be personal and local in flavour, drawing inspiration from Irish artists and institutions. New custom-designed carpets reference the work of artist Louis le Brocquy, while a collaboration with Dublin’s Kerlin Gallery is being explored, to source contemporary Irish artworks.

“It has been a privilege to escort this great lady through her 200th year,” said JP Kavanagh, general manager of the Shelbourne, in August.

“With the owners’ investment, it will preserve the hotel’s legacy while further enhancing our offering. The next chapter in the significant history of this beloved Dublin landmark is being written with elegance and intention.”
