Belfast’s Titanic Hotel won the top award in the category of "Northern Ireland's Leading Hotel 2019" at the World Travel Awards 2019, which took place in Belmond Reid's Palace hotel of Madeira, Portugal, on Saturday June 8.
"Thrilled"
Commenting on the win, Titanic Hotel general manager Adrian McNally said, "We are thrilled to win the award of 'Northern Ireland's Leading Hotel'. There are so many great hotels in Northern Ireland now, the standard here is very high, so to win this award means a lot to the staff and team at Titanic Hotel Belfast.
"It’s fantastic to be recognised globally as a leader in the hospitality sector too. Northern Ireland has so much to offer tourists, so we hope this award brings more attention to that too, and tourism numbers continue to grow."
"Europe’s Leading Green Hotel"
Meanwhile, Dublin's Sandymount Hotel won the award for "Europe’s Leading Green Hotel" at the event for the third year in a row.

Sandymount Hotel directors John and Gerard Loughran issued a joint statement asserting, "The team at Sandymount Hotel is delighted to scoop the award for 'Europe's Leading Green Hotel' for a third year running. We’ve come a long way since we first became more environmentally aware, and year on year, we have progressed our sustainable approaches to ensure that we are consistently improving and minimising any negative effect our procedures and systems have on the environment.
"Our dedicated in-house 'green' team has been tremendous, researching and instilling new measures to offer our best environmentally friendly practices, in line with our overall guest offerings and experiences."
"Ireland's Leading Business Hotel"
The event also saw Dublin's InterContinental hotel being named "Ireland's Leading Business Hotel".
