KFC UK And Ireland Signs Up To European Chicken Commitment

KFC UK and Ireland has signed up to the European Chicken Commitment and pledged to work with suppliers to ensure that there are minimum standards for chicken welfare across the industry by 2026.

Such standards include ensuring farmed chickens are provided with more space and natural light, and that they are able to perch and flap their wings.

"The Right Thing To Do"

BBC.com quotes KFC UK and Ireland general manager Paula MacKenzie as saying, "Signing up to the European Chicken Commitment isn't just a box-ticking exercise for us, we're doing this because we truly believe it's the right thing to do.

"Chicken is our business, and we have a responsibility as the chicken brand to make sure we're pushing improvement to chicken welfare standards across our supply chain.

"Our customers care about improving the lives of the chicken we buy."
