Rise In Dublin Room Prices Provokes Hotel Expansion

Owners of Dublin's Camden Court Hotel, the McEniff family, have announced plans to expand the venue with an additional 75 bedrooms in a bid to capitalise on rising hotel rooms prices.

As reported by The Times, the proposed construction of a new eight-storey block in the Camden Court Hotel's courtyard would bring the venue's total bedroom stock up to 322. The revamp would also involve the addition of four new conference rooms.

Statistics released by STR indicate that revenue per available room in Dublin increased by 7.7% last year, which has encouraged the McEniff family to expand the property. Several other new hotel developments and extensions have also been set in motion as a result of the city's rising room prices, including the addition of 140 rooms to the Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport and 31 rooms to the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge by Dalata, while the owners of O'Connell Street's Holiday Inn Express have applied for permission to add 21 new rooms to the premises.
