Ashford Castle Appoints New Head Sommelier

Co. Mayo's Ashford Castle Hotel has announced the appointment of Pierre Marie Faure as head sommelier.

Prior to his appointment, Pierre was head sommelier at the five-star Lanesborough Hotel in London as well as at Dublin's two Michelin star awarded Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud. In 2017, Pierre was awarded the Advanced Sommelier Certificate from The Court of Master Sommeliers, achieving Top of the Class.

An Ambition Realised

Commenting on his appointment, Pierre said, “I am so excited to be working here, it has been an ambition for me ever since I first visited Ashford Castle. The cellar has been curated into the perfect place to age wine and our links to the Wild Geese producers as well as the Tollman Family boutique winery, Bouchard Finlayson, means we have an eclectic collection of superior wines to pair with our menus here at Ashford Castle.”

Meanwhile, Ashford Castle general manager Niall Rochford asserted, “We are delighted to welcome Pierre into the Red Carnation Hotels family as our new Head Sommelier. Pierre will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role which will enhance our guests’ experience and enjoyment at Ashford Castle.”
