Ashford Castle Voted Number One Resort Hotel In Ireland And The UK

Co. Mayo's Ashford Castle has been voted the number one resort hotel in Ireland and the UK in American travel magazine Travel + Leisure's 2020 World's Best Awards.

Travel + Leisure's World Best Awards are based on votes from the publication's readers.

"A Seminal Moment"

Ashford Castle general manager Niall Rochford stated, "Winning this award and being recognised as the UK and Ireland's number one resort hotel is a seminal moment for Ashford Castle, particularly when you consider the standard and number of wonderful properties operating in both markets.

"I'm extremely proud of our dedicated and long-serving team for consistently delivering such impeccable service and warm hospitality, and this award is really a testament to them. We are particularly grateful to be presented with this accolade after the recent challenging months, and it's marvellous to be able to reopen our doors with some fantastic celebratory news."

Other Irish Venues Recognised

Co. Laois's Ballyfin Demesne, Co. Wicklow's Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, Co. Kerry's Sheen Falls Lodge, Co. Kildare's K Club, Co. Galway's Ballynahinch Castle, Co. Clare's Dromoland Castle and Co. Limerick's Adare Manor were all also named as some of Ireland and the UK's top resort hotels in the awards.

Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons welcomed the recognition of the eight Irish venues, saying, "I am delighted to see eight of our fantastic resort hotels appear in the prestigious Travel + Leisure readers' survey. I would like to congratulate all eight properties. It is truly another well-deserved accolade. Our industry has been one of the hardest hit by COVID-19, so this accolade is extremely welcome as we look to the future and plan for the recovery of overseas tourism."
