Donegal Hotel To Get Facelift After Investment From Canadian Entrepreneur

Donegal's Highland Hotel is to undergo refurbishment following a Canadian businessman heavily investing in the two-star property.

The 24-bedroom hotel is based in the Glenties and has been owned by the Boyle family since 1948. It is located close to the 18-hole Narin & Portnoo golf club, the Bluestack Way trail and has special offers for those visiting the Wild Atlantic Way.

Despite the ownership restructuring, the Boyle family will remain on in a management role, running the hotel day-to-day. according to the Donegaldemocrat.ie.

Speaking about the new investment, Johnny Boyle said: "This is a major investment which will ensure the future of the hotel. It is a big part of life in Glenties. It is almost like a community centre. Community meetings are held here and [people] gather here after local funerals. We will still be involved."
